United India Insurance adopts village for financial inclusion

United India Insurance Company has taken various initiatives and the latest is “ADOPTION OF VILLAGE FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION”. We have identified the Village called “BAIRAMANGALAM” which is 13 km from Hosur and 3 Kms. From Thorapalli, the birth place of Chakravarthy C.Rajagopalachari popularly called as Rajaji. The Village has a population of 2100 and whose occupation is Agriculture. The Insurance penetration is negligible. This will be the First time a Village is adopted by an Insurance Company for financial inclusion.

Sri G.Srinivasan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, United India Insurance Co.Ltd. whose vision is to penetrate in rural area by adopting villages not as mere business opportunity but as a Social Responsibility, declared Adoption of Village for Financial Inclusion Bairamangalam by United India Insurance Co.Ltd. on 24.12.2010.

Further, he also enumerated the following schemes for the benefit of the Village.
1. To spread the message of insurance to every family.
2. To appoint Agents from the Village.
3. Providing hygienic drinking water facility and laying of roads with the help of local
administration.
4. Carrier guidance for School Students will be organised.
5. Eye checkup Camp will be organised with the help of Agarwal Eye Hospital.
6. Veterinary Health Camp will also be organised with the help of Animal Husbandry Dept.
7. Many more activities as required by the Villagers will also be taken care.
8. The Chairman Cum Managing Director Sri G.Srinivasan conveyed that the whole village of 500 families will be offered a special insurance scheme for each family with the following benefits.
· Dwelling against Fire and Catastrophic loss = Rs.30,000/-
· Health Insurance for family size 1 + 4 = Rs.30,000/-
· Personal Accident to the breadwinner = Rs.50,000/-

9. United India’s objective will be achieved involving Insurance Staff, Agents, Rotary/Lions Club, Govt.Health Dept., Animal Husbandry Dept. , Tamilnadu Agri University, Tamilnadu Vet.University, Revenue Dept., Agarwal / Vasan Eye Hospital, Educationist, Social Organisation and other clients / Private Industrialists interested in sponsorship.

On the day of inauguration Sri G.Srinivasan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director distributed Students Insurance Policy to the Bairamangalam School Students. Sri T. Ramachandran, MLA, Thali Constitutency declared inauguration of free health camp. Smt.Ranjana Patel, Asst.Governor. Zone 18, Rotary Club of Hosur distributed free chappals to the students. Sri V.Arun Roy, IAS, District Collector was also present in the function and
conveyed that a fullest support to United India Insurance will be extended in implementing the benefit schemes to the Villagers.

Sri B.Krishnamurthy, General Manager, Smt.P.Hemamalini, Dy.General Manager along with Officials of United India were also present in the function. United India’s vision is not only to be a strong insurance player but also to be a responsible business organization involved in Financial Inclusion and be in the fore front in taking message of insurance to people of this Country.

United India Insurance has agreed to donate a building exclusively for the Chemistry Lab of the Bairamangalam School. Further, the CMD conveyed that United India proposes to adopt 50 Villages throughout India
in the next financial year.
