Icelandair adds COVID-19 insurance cover

Icelandair is to offer ‘COVID Plus’ medical insurance to the passengers. The comprehensive travel cover will enable instant payouts in a deal with tech-powered ‘XCover’ insurance distribution platform Cover Genius.

The rollout “is a timely response” that will give greater peace of mind for current and future travel bookings when booking “knowing that they’re covered if they get COVID-19 prior to or during their trip”.

“Our integration of Cover Genius’ XCover platform into our booking process  means we can now offer our passengers and their travel partners peace of mind during their travel,” he further added.

Peter Smith, Head of Travel Partnerships Cover Genius, stated, “We have recently partnered with the likes of Skyscanner, Despegar, Booking Holdings, Intuit, eBay, Wayfair and others who have integrated XCover to embed insurance, including instant payments of approved claims, to make sure that customers get back on their feet quickly when things go wrong.”
