Non-Life insurance premium increases 33%

 

The total premium accumulated by the non-life insurance companies in February 2017 increased 33% to Rs. 10,288 crore from Rs. 7,711 crore in February 2016. 

The public sector insurers collected Rs. 5,289 crore and private players secured Rs. 4,999 crore, according to the IRDAI.

The four public sector companies — New India, United India, National and Oriental — gathered a combined premium of Rs. 4,399 crore, a 25 per cent growth over last February’s premium of Rs.  3,523 crore.

New India Assurance topped the public sector table with a premium of Rs. 1,259 crore, National Insurance clocked Rs. 1,163 crore, United India Rs. 1,084 crore and Oriental Insurance Rs. 893 crore.
