India Inc & many auto companies planning COVID-19 vaccination drive for its employees

Indian Inc has been planning a vaccination drive for its employees as COVID-19 cases continue to rise rapidly across India. Both start-ups and Indian companies are looking at partnerships with hospitals and local authorities to inoculate their employees.

Companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Apollo Tyres, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS), Jindal Steel and Power, Panasonic India, L&T, Dalmia Bharat Group are gearing up to get their employees and their families vaccinated.

Auto companies are taking the lead in this drive. Schaeffler India announced it will cover the vaccination cost for all its eligible employees. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has also announced a similar drive for its employees. TVS Motor Company will also pay for COVID-19 vaccines for its 35,000 employees and their immediate family members in the coming months. Companies like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Steel are tying up with hospitals and engaging in talks with local authorities for vaccination on their premises.

Manufacturing companies are focusing on vaccinating factory workers first as they believe a single positive person will have a domino effect on the entire workforce. For smooth vaccination, companies are looking at appointing nodal officers who will coordinate with district health authorities and private vaccination centres.
