Hurricane response tool for insurers launched by Munich Re

Munich Reinsurance Co. has recently launched a suit of damage prediction and claims services, which has been specially designed for insurers to use before and after hurricane losses. Among the resources developed by the reinsurer’s Remote Industries team are: damage predictions using aerial imagery and machine learning starting four days prior to an expected hurricane, aerial views available after the hurricane hits but prior to claims adjusters entering the affected area and damage assessments provided via machine learning algorithms. The services are available in United States, including the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands, a Munich Re statement said. The services, which are provided by MR Service GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich Re, are available to commercial and residential insurers, the statement said.
