Coronavirus in India: LIC extends premium payment deadline

Keeping the policyholders’ convenience in mind, so that they will be able to pay the insurance premium timely even amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, LIC has made an extension to the deadline up to April 15, 2020. “Given prevailing extraordinary circumstances in the country on account of COVID-19, LIC will give relaxation to its policyholders in payment of premiums due on enforcing policies up to April 15, 2020, wherever customers are unable to deposit online or otherwise,” the LIC said in a statement. To limit the outbreak of disease, most of the state governments have decided lockdown so that social distancing can be maintained. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called for a ‘Janta curfew’ between 7 am to 9 pm on March 22, 2020. As of now, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in India increased to 415 with seven deaths, according to the information by Government.
