Mumbai mandals secure bumper insurance for Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh mandals in Mumbai had secured bumper insurance for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Insurance officials said the overall event insurance – which included public liability, terrorism insurance, fire insurance, money insurance, personal accident cover, among others – had crossed Rs. 500 crore.

Insurance company executives say cover sizes have been on the rise basis with the increase in footfalls and associated risks.

IRM Insurance Broker had designed a special contingency policy in association Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh Gully GSB Seva Mandal, Kings Circle GSB Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Samiti, Wadala Andhericha Raja with Oriental Insurance exclusively for the Ganesh mandals covering all type of insurance required by the mandals for the various risks arising during the Ganesh festival.

The insurance had covered the fire and burglary cover, jewellery used to adorn the deity, devotees who come for darshan, accident cover for volunteers and for the pandal, and public liability. The insurance lasted till the idol went for immersion.
