Insurance :Odisha scribes to get pension, health insurance

National Journalist Welfare Board for the first time has made provisions of pension for journalists above 65 years and health insurance for all accredited journalists in Odisha. The pension for the year 2011 was given to senior scribes at a function marking observation of the National Press Day here.

“We could make pension provision for only 10 senior journalists. There is no government help for the pension. Each journalist will get Rs 500 per month as pension,” NJWB’s vice-president Pradumnya Mohanty said. The National Press Day was observed here jointly by NJWB, directorate of field publicity, AIR, Cuttack, DDK, Bhubaneswar and Amit College.

Addressing the gathering, Justice A K Patnaik of the Supreme Court asked journalists not to cross professional limit while filing any news report.

Information and public relations minister Arun Sahu, Revenue Minister S N Patro, Rajya Sabha MP Baishnab Charan Parida and many senior journalists attended the function.
